Francia è divisa in Regioni che al loro interno accolgono diversi
Dipartimenti, 96 Metropolitani più 4 definiti DOM, ossia i famosi
Dipartimenti d'Oltre Mare corrispondenti alle Antille, alla Nuova
Caledonia, all'Arcipelago di Crozet, le Terre di Adelia, la
Polinesia e decine di altre piccole isole sparse per il Mondo (Departements
d'Outre Mer) . Parigi
gode di uno status tutto particolare, difatti il centro della
città, la zona compresa all'interno del Boulevard Periferique,
costituisce da sola il Dipartimento Numero 75, la prima periferia è
il Dipartimento 76 ed i sobborghi il Dipartimento 92, quest'area
viene nel suo insieme etichettata come Ile-de-France. In
Francia questa numerazione è fondamentale poiché con essa vengono
assegnate le targhe delle vetture, funziona da Codice Postale ed è
riportata sulla Tessera Sanitaria. Ecco

identificabile la posizione geografica.
